Yes, I can live without it. The last time it was on was a month ago & my wife played movie for the grandkids. I prefer to listen to sports on the radio.

I work from home. The smart phone is necessary as my means of contact (and computer).
It would be ok if the telephone portion of them were permanently disabled.

Sigh… I miss the days of pay phones and pagers when we had to talk to the company.
    Good ol days.

As far as TV. We haven’t watched it in so long. My wife and I have a habit of sitting down in the evening for an hour or two before bedtime (around 9) watching a series episode or two on something like Hulu, Paramount or Netflix.
I’m voracious on the YouTube for learning about something though.

Gave up TV around 2004, have not watched local programming since then. Did watch movies when you could go to the video store and rent them. Have a couple streaming services of the wife and kids. I like watching older movies, new Top Gun movie is pretty good along with Forged in Fire series.

Save some$$$$ it’s spendy. Nothing here is cheap, lots of land with almost no road access. You need some kind of equipment and that’s when you start hemorrhaging $$$. I know enough guide and their prices. My hunting adventures would cost a non resident $150,000 - $200,000 per year. And fishing not far behind it. Was just in Homer fishing and the lodge next door would have be just over $15,000 a day. We were there 8 days then went to Valdez for 3 days. My spring Grizz hunting would cost $25,000 per 7 days. I’m blessed!

That’s why I need to move there soon.
I used to figure if I wasn’t living there by the time I hit 45 I’d probably never make it, missed that mark by 10 years now.:( :( :(
Every once in a while the wife will say “ let’s just move to Alaska”, sadly I know she really doesn’t mean it

We have 3 TV's and several computers. I haven't watched broadcast TV since the mid to late 90's or so but I do use Kodi ('nuff said about that eh MPAA?). I haven't watched "the news" on TV since 9-11 and now get most of my news on Youtube, Rumble, Odysee, Locals etc., as I find they have more integrity (at least the ones I watch) than the clowns on state run mainstream media. I do draw the line on "flat earth and lizard people...well flat earther's anyway.

We had a sub to Netflix for awhile, but we rarely watched it as I didn't particularly like what they were putting out. The only reason I have Prime, is because of free shipping right to my door (I live 20 bucks from anywhere), but Prime doesn't have much of anything worth watching either.

    Probably why I'm so dumb...

Start packing, sell what you don’t want to move and get up here. When you get here you will be mad that you didn’t get here sooner. What do you want to do more hunt-fish? Do you need to still work-what’s your profession? You can DM me if you want to speak in private. Once you see that what’s on the news is not what in Alaska you’ll want to be here more than ever.

I talked about getting to Alaska for before I knew my wife and all along, finally one day out of the blue she said let’s move to Alaska. Was here 3 weeks later. We never had an another conversation after she said let’s go. I came home after work with a Uhaul.

I should have moved to Alaska 50 yrs ago, seriously!! I don't mind being by myself, and i'm kind of a survivalist. But when i was a kid, 16, my dream was to go to canada, parachute in, and build a cabin of my own liking. But, then things went south. So, it never happened the way i wanted it to. Then, 2 daughters and 5 grandkids 4 GREAT grandkids later, i'd still like to be there. But, at this stage in my age, i'm fighting a losing battle, Still healthy enough, i think, but, who knows what the future holds especially in today's? world. I know its never to late, but, you know how that goes. Moving now, with a wife, and great grandkids even great grandkids in the lower 48 would be next to impossible. So, i dream about it, lol.

That pretty much sums it up.
When I was around 12-14 my dad was the manager at the local airport, my dream was to be an Alaska bush pilot.

The yesterdays are gone, no need worrying. It’s never too late , get up here! Don’t let the dream die. Bring them on vacation here do they can see what their new life looks like.

    Thank me later.:D

Do you have any problems with the winter & depression Rope? When my dad lived up there in the early 1950s he said the winter were long & kind of tough. Perhaps the world being different than it was back then it’s not as bad now? Thanks.

We just upgraded the living room tv. But we cut ties with cable. Have Roku setups on older TV's. New tv has a bunch of LG internet channels. Its usually on the car or military channels. Wife normally watches in the room at night. Do tend to read a lot. So TV isn't always on

Nope, but if you don’t have activities year around you absolutely could. Winters are long and tough and cold but if you’re busy they’re fantastic in their own right. I love snow machining, ice fishing and winter hunting. I get most of my wood in the winter, I love snow!
