    Well, sorta....

My friend, whom I supply wood for, and on whose land I store 7 cord of my own wood at, informed me he was facing foreclosure. He asked that I not bring any more wood for him (he has about 2 year's wood on hand). Since I have room at my place, I'm bringing home whatever I can of my own wood. Hurriedly.

He is not sure foreclosure will really happen, but I'm not willing to take any chances. I'd rather move wood on my own timing, rather than "hey, I have 1 month to vacate the premises, take the wood you can".

There's the little issue of storage space, but both folks I supply wood for, are advanced in years. I'd almost rather store and dry wood in a place of my choosing, delivering a load to them as needed. When they quit burning (which could be anytime on both accounts) I'll have most of their earmarked wood here, and can burn it myself when they quit.

Sad end, but here we go.

2 loads over the gun'els, and 1 just a tossed load. A cord and a half moved....5.5 to go.
I found the BL that buZZsaw BRAD and I scored just over a year ago.
Most of this stuff is cut to 16", so stacking in 3 22" rows is rather out the window. Lots of Ash from friend who moved to FL and gave me all his wood (3C), maple from a yard job, white oak from the farm (clearing pasture) Hickory from the same place, Mountain Laurel, Red Maple, and other weirdball stuff I just hope will burn.

Sorry to hear of your friends situation, glad you are able to get some/all of the wood.

I'm fast running out of space on my postage stamp. Another cord on the stack pictured and I'll be looking for space for the other 4 cord. If he really does loose the place, I'll have 4 or 5 cord of his shorts to rehome. And, I have a couple (3?) cord at the 'boat score' ready to be split and delivered, in part to that guy.

His place has been in a rather compromised state of disrepair for many years, and borders on being habitable imho. He will need to leave at some point, I hope he does it at a time he has control over the situation . .

Al of this wood was that which Sirchopsalot Jr. helped haul and stack, including the shorts our friend is burning this and next year.

Too bad that may happen. If you need a hand moving it let me know. Only a half cord at a time, but glad to help.

I'd like to look around for a back parking lot locally to store a dozen cord of varying sizes of wood.
A hot piece of tarmac somewhere would about kiln dry the wood, and I could have the space to get a trailer in and out easily.
I'm not earning any money moving wood for others, so this is a convenience move only.

I'd go vertical as well. Stinks to be in the situation but I agree w/ your choice. I'd rather get it on your timeframe than a panic move.

Sirchopsalot needs a 1 acre or 2 acre field.
30 cord of my stuff, 4 or 5 cord for my friend, 3 or 4 for the other (one takes nothing bigger than 15", the other nothing bigger than 18") and I like 22".

The Wood Wolverine I'll go vertical as much as I can with bitty 16" logs. Maybe 5'.
With the small stuff, including the chunks and uglies my friends get, im lucky to stack.well above 4'. I might build a 4 cord pallet crib, and stack them in that...rather than a free-standing row.

Sorry to hear of your situation. For some reason moving wood a second time is much harder than when first processed. Takes longer, bugs you more, won't restack nice. Good move getting a jump on it, no telling how much notice you will have.

Yesterday I pulled a load of shorts from my friend's place. The shorts/uglies shed is filling nicely.
I have just a hair over 2 cord left to rescue there, and a nearly full and larger stack at home. (Pic). Maybe a small load to finish off the stack.
And then tally time for that stack.

Baby skunks, 5" long, 7 wandering my friend's yard. I think one parent was squashed up the road.....got some good video, little shavers were fearless.

Today was the last day for now.
There are 2 of the original 7 cord left, and those I can get in a day, 3 trips.
Ma, Stumpy, and the Tall Glass of Chocolate Milk, all helped this to happen.
We made less trips, the wagon (10 x 5.5 x 1.75) loaded well above the rails took 96.25 cu ft, 3/4 cord each trip. 6 trips, 5 fully loaded 1 not so full, did it. 5 cord moved!!

That comes to 35 cord on hand 33 of them here, 2 at our friends place yet. Not including a solid cord of shorts and uglies.

    Yeeehaw!!

The Tall Glass of Chocolate Milk is 6'4" just for reference.
    This stack is 11.8 cord...

20230516_154408.jpg Of course, if our friend up and moves, he's got 5 cords of shorts that I'll bring back.
No idea where I'll put that. But I'll find a place.
Next week, back to the boat tree score....

We have had dogs come running in the house after being sprayed by a skunk. Those little ones would be eliminated before they cause a problem.

If it were my yard, I might have relocated them.
No dogs where they are though.
