I’ve used chainsaws for a long time, I handle a lot of the basics, but I’m no mechanic. On my Husqvarna 365 Special, I just started having some starting and idling issues this past Winter/Spring. So I finally got into investigating the problem. I blew it out with an air gun to see better, and quickly discovered that my impulse line and fuel line were still good, not cracked or brittle at all. But there is a third hose near the fuel line to the right of the carb as you look at it from the throttle end. It was loose. I removed the handle and side and could see a little green nozzle where it obviously must go. So I put that back on, put it all back together, boom, first pull, purring away, idling great. But for the life of me, I don’t actually know what that line is. Can someone please educate me? Is it a vacuum line or something?

Some saws have a fuel supply and a return. Along with the impulse, obviously. That line must have been the supply or impulse.

For anyone in the future reading this, I finally found out an answer. It is the fuel tank vent line. It’s an EPA thing apparently. The hose leads to the air box.
