No turkeys were harmed by me this morning. It was the first day of my permit.
I did score a dozen morels on the way home so I harvested something!

Is it a continuous season once it opens, till it closes? Or does it have breaks in there?

You have to apply in December for a 7 day turkey permit. You rank your week and roll the dice.
There are 6 periods starting in mid April and ending late May.
So you have 7 days to get your tom. Each Wednesday a new period starts with new hunters.

Oh my goodness...that is horrible! Is that for all of Wisconsin, or just like that where you live?

555 am I harmed a tom. I called about ten times and he answered every time. 25 yards gobbling his fool head off. Once I had him in my sights I coyote barked at him to get him out of strut then their head comes up like a periscope! 20#, 6 inch beard done.

IMG_2625.jpeg IMG_2624.jpeg He had an apprentice jake with him. The jake lives to see another day and maybe he got smarter.

Got him straight south of our house a half mile walk to the tree line. I had a pail for a seat in front of a black walnut.

Season here in SC runs April 1 to May 1 generally. No fall season for turkeys. I’ve not hunted them for several years but have enjoyed it along with the fruits of the labor . Congrats to y’all who were successful!

At the end of our road in VT, there’s a house that feeds the birds in the winter. They always have a lot of turkeys hanging around as well; like over a dozen. A few weeks back, hurting season opened. I swear, they all hid. We saw a few today under a tree, relaxing in the shade.
