I just came across some pics from quite a while ago. (2013) I do some motorcycle riding up in the NH and VT area, and sometimes stop into my favorite little factory (not all that little) to see what's up and if everyone is having fun. More and more burning wood is under the critical eye of the EPA and Woodstock has been very proactive in engineering the cleanest stoves they can for all of us folks that like burning wood more than oil or gas. I usually take my camera with me, just for memory's sake, and we all know how we love pics around here. So I took a little picture of the testing lab behind the Absolute Steel (I believe). Probably some semblance of the same was behind its predecessors the Progress and the Ideal Steel. I hope you enjoy. I also hope I'm not upsetting anyone of our friends at Woodstock. If I am, just let me know and I'll hit the D key. Doing the Woodstock Soapstone tour is soo much fun!
That Fireview is the stove I purchased in 2013. It was a refab that had been gently used by wonderful member of this group from its earlier days. His name was Charles Wolz and he lived in upstate NY. He was a retired guy but he and his wife had a beautiful farm up there. It turned out that the Fireview wasn't enough stove for his large home. So we were talking about selling to me, as he figured he couldn't trade it back in as he was past their return policy timeframe. But was still going to buy a Woodstock Progress. Woodstock waived the timeframe thing, they fully refreshed the stove for me, and I got it as a fully warrantied but lower cost stove. Charlie was a dear friend and a great guy. I miss him to this day, he passed away unexpectedly in 2014. I'm enjoying passing on to all here what awesome people hang here. I may not always be here daily, but i really do enjoy the folks I've met out here. Steve L, aka oldhippie
I know, I hope you guys enjoyed sightseeing and exploring New Hampshire and Vermont. Such a beautiful time of the year around here in New England, and the folks at Woodstock Soapstone couldn't be nicer. Not to mention how world-class the company is overall. I'm a "Masshole" through and through. But it doesn't make me a bad guy. I hope. I love this little part of the world.
