Hey all! Been a while since I posted. Yesterday evening was cool and breezy and I had the itch to swing the maul a bit.

    Wood pile inventory:
    (1) 6-lb maul
    (1) 8-lb maul (thanks Secret Santa!)
    (2) Outer Lights Lonesome Boatman amber lager
    (1) Podcast

...and one decent pile of ash and maple just waiting to be processed. The ash was surrendering easy once the bark was stripped. Nice, straight grained stuff from a dead EAB on my property line. It's already sitting at 23% moisture, but regardless it will be sitting for at least another two years. The maple was twisted and knotty, and not my favorite. I'll continue little by little after work as long as the temps stay fair.

    Happy splittin' mates!

Nice! That’s almost exactly my list too. I usually have a wedge handy for the really nasty stuff. And it’s weird how podcasts have supplanted music for me on activities like this. Comedy, sports, politics, sometimes even a true crime podcast…

Feels good swinging it, don't it? I've said before...so long as not forced, manual labor is quite enjoyable and satisfying.

I sometimes will play the radio in the buggy when in the woods. Most times I try to enjoy the 'silence'. Certain parts of the property will net me absolutely zero human noise (other than my own) and it is wonderful. Then a prop plane goes overhead. lol

No problem , I know it is hard with weather forcing a change on the day.
I'm sure if we all survive this one that there will be more in the future.

LOL!!! There's a model plane flying club close to me that only flies on odd numbered days. I hear them often when firewooding outside and reminds me what day it is. The even days its rather peaceful.

Nice to see you again RK. Your absense has been noticed. Weather has been perfect for any type of firewood making activity.
