Well I jinxed myself. A deer jumped across M21 this morning and smoked my little coffin on wheels… It’s totaled. The driver fender is wrecked, headlight is busted, driver door won’t open, driver back door won’t open, door pillar is bent and more. It’s turned into an insurance nightmare…. That deer was on a mission… Now I’ve got to go look for another car. After everything else the last few months I’m just gonna take it in stride and thank the lord it wasn’t a person and nobody got hurt. It coulda been a lot worse. I feel bad for the deer as it was alive and managed to wonder off with two broken legs and a crushed head. The officer couldn’t find it anywhere. I’m not one to wish that on any living thing….
Thanks. It did fold the windshield a little but it didn’t hit high enough thankfully. That deer was absolutely booking across the field and jumped from the south side of the road all the way to the side of my car on the north side. All I saw was last second and it was over… It hit my fiesta with so much force that it pushed the car to the side.
It’s not going well with the insurance company right now… long story but the short of it is when I told my independent insurance agent to put full coverage on it he said he did it but turns out he did not. My insurance company is saying that because it wasn’t full coverage I’m up a creek without a paddle. I am as much to blame because I signed the new documents for insurance and didn’t look close enough. The body shop wants to buy it for $750 and wave the tow fees so I am going to do that most likely. I’ve got the old Silverado still kicking so I’ll drive that for a while until I find a good replacement for the fiesta. The blessing in all of this is it was cheap when I bought it and no loans to worry about.
Did you pay for full coverage? There would be a record of just why the premium was higher in that case.
I paid for full coverage at the time then was laid off and dropped the coverage to plpd amongst other things to save money while I looked for a job. When I told him to put full coverage back on I had found a job working long hours or training. There’s another reason I didn’t notice the coverage change but I don’t want to talk about that publicly. It’s the long part of the story and is ongoing.
Sorry to hear Pete...I figure you are doing all you can not to go kick your insurance agents Azz! Glad you got thru this with no injuries!
Can't like that at all Pallet Pete (but I did, if you know what I mean). Glad you weren't hurt, but dang, the aftermath is not cool.
I do need one but in theory it won’t take long to save up for one. The trucks a hog on gas and not very reliable. The car was 8 to 9 gallons a week but the trucks about 35 gallons a week so ya… It’s a good old truck for Home Depot, the woods and that sort of thing but not work a back. The job pays well and if the truck gives out they have a backup vehicle I can drive for a while which will help a lot. There’s still good in the situation.
