I didn't allow my computer to perform the latest update (KB5025221). From what I read, it is a trial version and not ready for prime time (and didn't contain critical updates). Yeah, no thanks, I'll wait until all the gamers and those with automatic updates find all the bugs.

Unless you were talking about the patch that came out (KB5026372) I haven't had any issues with that, but I haven't used my printer/scanner, so it is always possible there is an issue.

Two nights now in a row with the stoves OFF....AC back on yesterday afternoon a bit......
Sort of nice not having to go tend the stove first thing outta the sack at 0 Dark Thirty.....

Supposed to get into the 90F temps this weekend.....Maybe....

 

You people and your WindBlows stuff....always some sort of "issue". My Mac updates/new OS's come through, I install them, and away we go. Not perfect, but WAAAY less hassle than the stuff you deal with.

 

I always expect *blows to screw up and is why I always go with being 5 weeks behind other than defender updates, Linux is never automagic so I don't have that running timeshift. This week was just bad except for Monday evening into Tuesday.

 

The Zorin OS is a manual install....It will pester me to tell me updates are available

I have been lucky. I get the updates to Windows etc. but cannot say I have had any issues. I on the computer about 6-8 hrs a day, mostly reading and streaming.

 

Yesterday I decided that the P61a is done for the season ans shut both it and its thermostat off. I need to do a cleaning, block the exhaust and unhook the OAK so it doesn't just bring in humid air. The P43 is still going. It ran once early yesterday morning. It won't run this morning. Last two days have been very sunny and 80*. Today it is only supposed to get in the low 70s and tomorrow 60s. Still have some mornings in the 30's coming up, so shouldn't need to start up the mini split for a while yet.

 

Got my SDR and my USB multi format card rear/writer back they got reversed by the Linux change so virtual box assigned them to the *blows machine.

 

I dual boot Win 11 & Arch Linux. Win 11 I just allow security updates, always hold off on feature updates. Hardware driver updates I do manually from mfgr websites. As Arch is a rolling release I get some updates every day. With the release of the new 6.3 kernel Monday I fired Arch up to find 321 updates. But as the Pamac package manager lists each one I can go thru the list to see if anything may cause an issue and choose not to install it.

Rabbits ate all my phlox. I gave up on it.

 

Summer is here...I THINK
Yesterday was low 80's F here at the ranch.....AC ran some during the late afternoon and evening.

I suspect we will get a few days before mid June that we will need a spot fire to take the chill off....

I need to tear into the little stove and replace the blower fan.....It's getting noisy.......Still the original fan from 1992.....Pretty good service life....

Sadly getting that fan out is not a quick job......Fan is in the pedestal base.....Stove has to be unhooked, all the extra weight removed (Cast iron door, side panels, top cover and the contents of the hopper) Then the unit must be turned upside down and the base removed......And then the fan can be unbolted......

At least the fan is the same as the one in the large stove......

Big stove just needs a good Post season cleaning is all.....Then it will be good to start the fall season.....

 

That phlox will be spectacular once it spreads and starts flowing over the rock walls.

I've never had that issue. However, rabbits are not plentiful around here.

 

Sorry about the additional health issues that have arisen. Hopefully going with wood will be good for your circumstances.

Humidity - it's just something you learn to live with. I really don't do that much extra to deal with it even though I don't have true humidity control in my house. Those that have central air most likely don't even have to worry about it, although IDK since I've not had central air since I was a teenager some 40+ years ago. If it gets really humid inside I can use the mini split to help control, but I don't do that often as the further from outdoor conditions the house is, the worse it feels when I go outside to do yard work. At least I don't live in SC, LA or MS, they have to be miserable for the heat and humidity combined.

 

I wondered about the humidity too, when I decided to move to NC. In reality, it's not much worse than it was in SE NY.

 

I’ve accepted it as I enjoy the rabbits. Moving to creeping thyme. When I plant bulbs i need to add hot pepper flakes or else the squirrels get them.
