I'm thinking same thing here. However, I've had small fires as late as June 1.

Camber, do you have an ash pan in your BKK? Or do you just scoop?

I just scoop hot. I can keep my stove choochin all season long that way. I've just finished welding and tweaking my Aboslute steel in a manner that will let me clean ash in my garage easier.

Thanks, I've always scooped too, but possible new BK in our future and considering an ash pan. I've never had one and frankly I have a bad taste in my mouth from our pellet furnace ash pan.

Last night the wife said it was chilly downstairs. No problem. Brother in law gave me a pile of 2x2s he tore out from a renovation he's doing. Tossed a bunch of them in with a couple small splits of black cherry. Problem solved.

We're up to 40 F degrees here. It's been snowing hard since late last night. Really nice heavy, wet snow. I've been burning Silver Maple and Ponderosa Pine. 73 F degrees in the house.

    Hope everyone is staying warm!

I was wondering if you were getting this same system. We’ve been getting pounded here.

All of my wood stoves had ash pans but I never used them.
