I'm looking to let my OWB sit for a year, what steps should I take to protect it? Drain all water for sure, but anything else? Remove bungs? Anode?

Why drain the water? Exposure to oxygen would cause more rust. I only drained my owb once and I immediately filled it back up.

Agree...leave the water in there. Maybe send in a sample to make sure your treatment levels are good to go.

I'd go one step further and make sure the OWB is filled until it's running out. The less metal that's exposed to air the better, even with a SS stove.

Yes, I should have included that in my initial statement.

I forgot to ask about how to leave it dormant in the winter? Short of filling it with expensive glycol, how do I leave it full of water with no frozen valves/pipes?

Easiest way I can think of is to keep a fire lit inside of it.

In these parts, if there is no anti-freeze mixed in the OWB, it is drained. Period.

Short answer is, you don't. Either drain it or antifreeze it.
