Another round today....20 barrels in the books...
Another run tomorrow.....That still leaves one more run for a bit later.....

    Smooth run.....
As I was expecting...the price finally went up....To fill the dumpster now costs $45 as opposed to the $30 it has been for the last several years.....

With everything else going up....It had to happen sooner or later...

Costs about 5 cents a pound figuring the fuel to go get it....

I started looking into used, But there wasn't lots of 1025r's used nearby. Plus financing was much easier on new. Not to mention some of the used tractors were priced so little below the newbies it was hard not to just go new.

And the bucket list for my first brandy new tractor got a check mark(finally). :D

I'd never buy a new tractor of any brand with the T4 mandates and soon to be T5. Once the T5 comes in, everything will be emissions compliant no matter how small and emissions compliant means increased failure rates and more expense for the end user.

    not my thing.

be careful with financing today is all I can say...

No emissions on this tractor. Pretty much all the sub and compact tractors I looked at were below the T4 HP mandate. Most manu's are bending the HP limit as far as possible. There were a few good sized tractors that didn't require emissions. I'm sure they were under powered for their size though!!

I don't think I could stand buying DEF.

That will change with T5. There won't be a low power exemption. Even a lawnmower will have some sort of emissions on them.

Mine aren't (glad of that) underpowered. Both of mine have over 90 horses on tap.

With T5, you won't need DEF on the smaller ones. They will come with SCR cannisters (selective catalytic reduction), IOW a cannister with an element that will need periodic cleaning. Presently, the only units that require DEF are ones over 100 horsepower.

I got mine years ago and feel like it was a decent deal. I wasn't even considering one this size. Now that I have it, maybe I should have went with a 2 or 3 series. I should probably look for a zero turn, mowing would be easier.

3 shell runs as as many days......
Good news though....I was informed by the gal that does the paper work that our price would stay as it was....So we are back to $30 per dumpster full.....

We checked the mileage and cost to go get the materials.....

Cost per pound is 3.7 cents (Shells and fuel to haul them)

Pellets here are 18.7 cents a pound (Ton price)

Still well worth the fooling about....

The shells are great....Coming right off the cracking plant.....Some husks....some sticks....(NORMAL)

Good size to the shells too...First load were smaller.....

    A few pics....8 empties left....One more trip....in a week or so???????
    The rest are full....

Good feeling to see the stock nearly full again.....
    Actual barrel count is 64....

Last year I couldn't find a new one, And the used ones at a good price were snapped up before I could get a call in. So I jumped on one early this year!! Heck it sn*wed the day it was supposed to be delivered.

I could never get used to the zero turn. And I like how my Simplicity mows. Nice strips and little blow out unlike the JD 425. I do like the aws on the 425 though.

I didn't think I would either, but came across a deal on one that I just couldn't pass up. Previous owner thought there was a problem with the safety system (I fixed it in about 1 minute and saved a boatload of $$$$). 2022 Husqvarna Z248F is now the mower.....sold the previous rider. Yes, it took a couple of mows to get the hang of it (I was constantly over-correcting), but now it's all good, and so much faster. I'm guessing I get done in about 1/3 less time. Only thing with the speed.....ya gotta keep the blades sharp or you're just laying the grass over.

I tried one at a TSC demo days. Scared the chit outta me! But I still might keep my eye out for a cheap deal. I got plenty a field to practice in.

Speaking of tractors, I think I gotz a deal coming on a Simplicity Prestige, Needs a motor. But power steering and lift would be more better on me old bones! :D

2 ZTR's here, both Cub Cadets. One with oars (mine) and one with a steering wheel (hers). Both hydro gear transmissions. Far as tractors go, always buy bigger than what you need, you'll grow into it.
