Finally making some progress on this house from 1903. - not my primary residence
Figured I'd share the journey, tried to keep most of them in order but not doing too great at that.
Reworking the main drain because they had the wye sticking really far out, so I'm reclocking it.
Also just showing insulation installed on the copper pipes.
Panel looks low on breakers because it is. Still installing new circuits, adding wiring, cleaning up the mess and eliminating knob&tube. Went from a 125 amp panel with 2 sub panels to one 200 amp panel.
box on lower left is a surge protector for the house.

added a pic to end of my post attempting to show what it looked like with the wall/closet before I tore it all out and installed the header.

Took it pretty easy on the place thru the summer, dealing with a bad paw and not wanting to aggravate it.
Finished up gutting the living room and this is why I'm gutting and removing the knob and tube.
All the tube I've ripped out so far has actually looked in good shape. Until this.

Downstairs is gutted now except for a small section of stairwell landing that I'm opening up.
One of the next steps is installing a register vent damper
Anyone know if there is a formula to figure out how big of a vent I would need to allow for circulation?
Right now I'm just guessing about a 16x10. Not set on a size as long as I can find a grille to cover.

What size furnace is it...or maybe a better question, what size is the duct there?
Is this going to be the only duct?
Is it gravity flow, or forced air?

I'm doing the vent for the wood stove. I do have a forced air gas furnace as well. Was thinking maybe I could just add a vent to the cold air return for downstairs and
possibly use the furnace to help in circulation. I just don't think it would work much better and the wear on the blower motor.
The vent I linked to would be installed in the room above the wood stove, with the idea the cold air from upstairs would drop there
and back into the stove room. By opening up the stair well landing I think it would help with the heat flow upstairs and create a better convection loop in theory.
    edit to add
By stair well landing I mean the bottom of the stairs. I have a pic if needed.
