Chainsaw Pics...

Ive had a couple recently that the braze will not stick. No matter how much I remove the silver coating. That peanut oil mix test unit was the latest. Beads up like water on a waxed car.

Picked up another husky 246

 

Is the 246 the 15,000 rpm factory screamer? I could see myself enjoying one of those if one comes along.

 

Yup 15,500 on the 242
15,000 on the 246
and 14,500 on the 42.
All just over 10 pounds dry weight.

They're all good saws, however the 246 seems like the best of both worlds... plenty of speed, but better torque than the others.

I'm wanting to do some comparison cutting between these guys and my two ms241's

 

Excellent. I look forward to that. I'm a saw nerd. Brand matters not.

Cs400, 42, 242, 246, 440, ms241, & ms250 (yeah I know, it's 45cc's, but who cares)
All running the same new husky x-cut sp33g .325 chain, sawin' cookies off a green 10" red oak.
Order of cutting was; 42, 242, 246 , 440, cs400, 241, and then 250.
In the picture, the 42 is wearing the bar and chain used in the cutting.

I'll post the cut times tomorrow, because I ain't got the paper with me right now.

I made four timed cuts with each saw, after they were warmed up good....the slowest was around 14 seconds, and the fastest was around 8-9 seconds.


Feel free to speculate....


Oh yeah, they're all stock saws as far as I know.

Here are the final numbers after some adjustments on a couple huskies today......


We re-did the 246 and the 242 today because neither was running quite right last night.
Both saws gained a second, but the 242 doesn't wanna take a tune very well.

I'm not claiming to be a great saw tuner so.....




Now, let's fight!

 

I can see that Ms 250 time hurting some feelings. Lol.

 

Yeah I prolly shoulda lied and said it was slower..... just to keep the peace....
Other than the terrible av, I actually really like my 250.... it's not the coolest thing going, but it's dead nuts reliable and just works.

I haven’t been able to find the sweet spot on my 242xp for 20yrs. I’m eventually going to try a new carb.

 

I have one and think it is a great no frills but reliable saw.

 

Me too. Bought one new 15 years ago and it just flat starts every time.
Use it regularly more than the others.
