It's been 25 years since I've been in Michigan, but there were plenty of places up there that were well off the beaten path, once ya got away from the cities.
Grew up in Greeley, Ne (580 people and a few old crabs). Would not have traded it for the world. May run up to parents place this weekend.
It's especially great, when you're a kid. It took me moving to a city for a few years to truly appreciate how good it is in these smaller towns. Even if a person moves to the city and never comes back, it's still a great foundation for kids, having that experience.
