I picked up some rounds from a guy about 2 miles away from me. He's clearing his yard. He said they're from 2-3 different trees. Any help w the id? I'm pretty sure rounds #2 & 3 are from one tree and the rest are from another. 2A529A77-CECA-45EF-9DF6-76C1D0658480.jpeg

I thought maybe ash by the bark on 1, 4 and 5, but the wood is not right. And I looked at it first on my phone... I agree with tulip poplar when I see it on a larger screen.

1, 4-6 have a very Yellow Tulip poplar-ish look to me (I think most of us know it’s not a true poplar).
    2-3 are mystree-rious to me.

The two larger rounds are boxelder, I’ll put money on it.

Thanks for the input, guys. So, looks like tulip poplar and boxelder aren’t the best firewood, but, like I said, it wasn’t too far away, so I’m still happy with the find. Also, there was a decent amount of ash there, but I knew what that was, so it wasn’t pictured. Thanks again.

I have a catalytic stove and it likes Tulip just fine. Maybe not the best choice to keep the stove running while away at work for a day but it heats nicely. Cats burn smoke. Don’t seem to care what kind of wood makes that smoke too much :)
