I completely believe that to be true. Always thought it was very coincidental that the 50's and earlier cars usually have pretty nice floor pans and frame rails compared to the newer mid 60 and up stuff.

Top five copper mining countries in the world by 2020 production
List of countries by lithium production - Wikipedia

They shut down the lithium mine here in the states back in the 90s and moved to China where they have zero f's about their environment. That entire country is a superfund site.

PS depending on the year now they can inmobilize your car with an over the air update. Give it another 2 years and the police will be able to order your car to brake on command.
I'm pretty sure that is in the lawbooks now. Another reason why I don't want to own anything made after 2k

I do care about the superfund sites, I am no fan of the EPA but they have a purpose, we could be like China with everything contaminated, painting vegetables to make them look fresh.
Can't drink any tap water anywhere in the country. I can still drink my well water. You can't do that there.
It might take them longer than ever to clean sites up, at least an effort is being made even if it is weak.
Other than that, I'm not a politician or some mega rich guy, I can't even get my dog to listen to me. Let alone randoms online or a politician.
What do you want me to do?

Well if there are 140 Superfund sites, obviously there has been some concern. You think we should add to the problem ?

One of the largest lithium mines is being mined using slave labor. That's OK with you ?
C'mon, man ! There's been slaves since the beginning of time, what's a few thousand more ?
I like your logic, we can apply it so many ways.

Show me where I said that. People will twist anything to put words in others mouths.
And btw mining for anything is a dirty business but necessary to some degree to keep the world moving

Sounds similar to this country in the 60’s when rivers used to catch on fire.

I see trackers on a consistent basis. I’ve not noticed an immobilizer yet but I don’t doubt they’re out there.

Places like credit acceptance Corp and Atlantic acceptance, the only places that finance people with a 310 credit score and 16 previous repossessions use them in almost everything. They pay the selling dealer to install them so after 90 days they can just hit a button and BAM it won’t start again. I’ve seen cars repo’d come in with every harbor freight tool the debtor owns still under the hood and half the engine torn down trying to figure out why it won’t turn over. If you lived the life it’s really hilarious after a while.

That's really not the point. The point is mining lithium is not better than mining coal or drilling for fossil fuels. Is at least as bad. And most of it is being done in places that don't care about the environmental impact.

I will agree that much of that current mining is done in countries that don’t have many environmental regulations but remember, that was also us not that many decades ago until reform was put in place primarily by the EPA which constantly gets blasted by people here. Now, do I agree with everything the EPA does? Nope. Do I think they get things wrong and have too much government red tape, absolutely but think about where we would be without any environmental regulations.
