My wife got it off Amazon, $30 or $40. Funny cus it's cheaper than the big plastic tote we had them in in the first place. I think the next round of chicks we'll just go straight to using it instead of the tote. Funny watching them go crazy running around in there trying to fly, i think they are enjoying the extra space than their first tiny chick crate home.

$43.99 off Amazon right now, I'd recommend it. We only have 6 chicks but could easily fit twice as many in there I think.

woody5506 , how does the bottom attach? Like a drop cloth with ties on it, or zipper?

Thinking of getting 4 more chicks. Will it be a major issue to have chicks that are a week apart in same brooder?
Im thinking it shouldn't be too much of a problem. Just like an opinion of someone who has done it.

We've done that before.... sometimes it's just fine, others it's murder.... you just have to watch em closely, and have a good backup plan in case they don't get along.

The bottom zips on. water/pee proof too as far as i can tell. Can't say it's something that would last forever but time will tell!

    Thanks.

I have a broody hen too, not sure if the eggs are viable, but I have a pen like yours, waterer and chick feeder on the way to get her out of the coop. My coop is 2.5 - 3' off the ground, I was warned the chicks can fall out and get injured, and the hen can abandon her unhatched eggs to tend the ones that got out. I'll have to figure out where they go after the pen *if* any of them hatch :sherlock: .

Well Seasoned , did any more of yours hatch?

No I'd say 8 were 3/4 full and I lost 3. She left the nest. She's young, not even a year old so maybe that played a role.
