They are handier, all you need to do to charge your phone is just lay it on the base, no cords to hook up and you get a full charge in about 45 minutes

Seriously, I bought a protector that the phone snaps into. The lens cover failed and I could not affix it to the screen. I thought it would be bad, but it hasn't been bad at all.

But then, I do not take the phone with me wherever I go.

I really like those types of chargers. So much more easy than the plug in. Also may want a back up power pack until you get use to remembering to put it in the charger at night. Also might want a charger for the car. Very cheap, but comes in handy. Go to Youtube and put in your phone model and you will see many options for how to use the phone. you can use it much like any other computer. Even use it for a hot spot to run your laptop on the internet if you loose power.

I’m extremely hard on phones. Actually have lost one off the tonneau cover of my truck at about 50 and another fell onto the mower deck when I was doing the lawn. Both came out un scathed but the mower belt did wear into my otterbox. Had to get a new phone a few months ago and the 14 otterbox doesn’t have the screen protector so you got to get the glass one. So far I haven’t broke it but I never take it out of the vehicle really.

A power pack is very handy if you have a power outage. I kept my cell and Kindle going using one during my 3 day power outage last week.

I have the 10,000 mAh 3-in-1 Pocket Juice. Which can charge corded, with 2 USB ports, or non-corded. I only charge via a cord since my phone holder inhibits wireless charging. Also, corded charging is more efficient (although I don't know how much juice is lost for wireless). Very cheap insurance. They also make some that cna be charged by solar that are fairly cheap and look interesting.

Backwoods Savage I disagree with above; you do not need power pack. you have a backup generator at your home and car charger in your car

Same phone here. While it’s more expensive the Apple brand case has been wonderful for those phone. I have the clear version and it’s held up well.

If you really want to geek out, wireless earbuds are awesome. I spend a lot of time on the phone for work. When working from home, it’s great to not have to hold the phone for hours on end.

I’ll put in a good word for a life proof case. When I was getting my first IPhone the only case they had in stock to fit it was a Life Proof. Price was around $94 iirc. I thought NO WAY I’m paying that for a case. The lady selling it said “and it’s totally waterproof to 6 meters for 15 minutes” ( or some such). I told here that I work at a gravel pit and if I drop it in a puddle I’ll just pick it up immediately and go on, but if I drop it in the water it will be gone forever.
About a year later I needed to out to the dredge one night after dark. Parked the pickup so the headlights would illuminate the walk planks, but a pile of dirt was throwing a shadow on the first few planks. I used to flashlight in my phone to traverse the dark spot, and went to put the phone in my pocket when I got to where I could see in the headlights, yep, you guessed it. I missed my pocket and the phone went in with the light on and shining up. Had the wife shut the headlights off and I could see the glow under water. I figured it was gone forever. But went home and got a 4’ landing net and a 12’ 2x2 and some duct tape and went back out to the pit. The glow was getting dimmer but could still tell approximately where the phone was. And I was actually able to scoop it out after about 10 minutes of fishing for it.
I figured it was submerged in around 16 feet of water for about 45 minutes and it never missed a beat after that. I was truly impressed.
A Life Proof case will not however, protect your phone if’n you run it over with a tire from a 644h Deere pay loader. (Different story)

I have a smart phone that is way smarter than this old man is actually. In fact I'm going to get rid of it and get a flip phone with none of the befuddling features as all I do is use it for what it's supposed to do... Make calls. All the other stuff to me is superfluous. Guess I'm living in the past but I'm good with that actually.

I'll 4th the otterbox recommendation. If you like holster cases. That one holds up really well over the years and that one should fit your iphone with an otterbox case.
Can't speak for the other cases fitting it though.
Go thru and turn off all the data sucking options, Settings > Privacy and Security > go thru everyone and turn off tracking and location except for when using the application.
Also click on General under settings and than go to Software update and make sure auto updates is on and if anything is ready to install, allow it to install.

Ever heard of Google Duo? Been around for a while. It’s like FaceTime but you can video chat between Android and Apple phones/devices.

That looks interesting but not sure how easy it would be closing with the strap and snap closure it has. Has it ever been a problem for you?

I got the OtterBox that covers everything but the glass.
Then there was a liquid glass protector. I like that there's no plastic layer over the glass.
