Tree fell on shed hole in roof. Tree guy cut tree off of shed. Neighbor asked if I would split wood for his stove in his shop. Picture tells the story. Nice day to run the splitter and get some fresh air.

It does the job. Made the table on the fly out of metal out of an old recliner. I will have to do a redo with heavier metal someday. All in all great day to be outside.

It’s great shares like this that shine light on the wonderful nature that is human. When that light dims (like we see daily), FHC members often help to brighten things up.
Excellent posts & pics WoodPirate :handshake:

Good on you for helping a neighbor.

I am definitely not trying to find fault but would like to point out to some folks that this picture explains why I split vertically rather than horizontally.

The effort it takes to shuffle big rounds into a vertical splitter about broke me the 2 times I tried it. I spent more time crooked over that way. After that, I knew what caused me more discomfort. Do you have someone feed you rounds while sitting Dennis or are you up and down to reach them?

Where I am bent over all that split wood was stacked there. It was a turn around and split. The rounds were 10&12 inch so it was easy peasy.

Neither! I get the rounds while sitting but I am not up and down while getting the rounds. When I can no longer reach the logs I will move the splitter ahead and resume splitting...while sitting. I think you've seen a couple videos I've posted in the past. I remember on one I was splitting elm and another it was oak.

I was nor trying to be critical but posted for the benefit of many who do not understand my way of splitting. One should remember I have suffered through 16 surgeries including 3 on back, 3 on hips and 1 on neck. I am sort of beat up so I have to find the easiest way to do things. Also I cannot stand while working as that about kills my back and hips.

All good. These were small rounds. When it comes to the big rounds the splitter goes vertical.
