Paying job taking down a few trees for a friend where i have wood stored. Pin oak (groan) and a clump of red maples. To be processed and stored on sight. He will clean up brush and move rounds. Took down the pin oak (22" DBH) and one red maple (16" DBH) today. Cord and a half all bucked up. Forgot my camera and my friend took some pics. 400, 261, & 201 rear handle perfect trio for todays cut.
Pin oak. (I was clearing around tree when my phone rang.) 20230322_122831.jpg 20230322_135834.jpg

A few bucks for a few buck$ or a few buck$ for a few bucks? Either way you cant beat getting paid to make firewood!

It is nice to get paid to process wood.

Was you clearing with a hand saw? I can’t hear my phone over the powerful roar of a Husqvarna!

Nice way to step in it Brad :)
Question: How thick of wood do you cut with the 201 before switching to the 261?

Looks good. Do you have to cut the stumps down to ground level? That's a big boy.

Yeah, many of us groan on this one. Brad doesn't like it because of the time it takes to dry. I would not turn it down.

Id say 6". This was a perfect firewood tree. I started at the bottom and marked off 16" for the whole tree. Everything was nice and straight. I harvested down to 3". The other surprising thing was i was able to buck from top down with only a couple spots i had to place a block underneath.

I felled the maple on top of the big oak round and it pile drived one round diagonally into the soft ground.

Drying time. I have limited storage and PITA trying to figure where to put it. This will get split small and stacked for bundle wood. Will yield 90% primo splits. I have a couple cord SS already in a reclaimed shed (actually was his tree fort as a kid) in the back yard. He has OKed a build of another lean to shed for storage. I have some of the material (reclaimed) for the build. Just have to get my azz in gear and do it.

I dont but probably will cut at least the oak one. Took a length off the maple one. There's a few other stumps in his back woods that ill cut too. Six maples in that clump. One is leaning too far back and will stay. Ill cut the maples the same height.

Its a big compost bin. The leaner in the back has some missing bark. I offered to fell it for the neighbor.

My friend is big into Halloween decor and may incorporate the clump stump into something for it. I offered to be Leatherface!

Showers today messed up my work so i sectioned several of the bigger oak rounds with the isocore. IMG_2886.JPG IMG_2887.JPG IMG_2888.JPG Rain stopped and i brought the hydro over. Split all the wood he had moved with the wheelbarrow. Forgot to take after pics. IMG_2890.JPG
Probably will fell a couple more next week.

Thanks. I cant ever recall limbing a whole tree then marking all the cuts before bucking. Perfect tree for bucking IMO.
