A new BBQ guy wanted some post oak. He came last Friday and helped break it down to handling size. 0303230955.jpg
He got a nice load... 0303231033.jpg
What we have left of the big rounds... 0306230831.jpg
He texted me later that afternoon, he got this rack full split 32301.jpeg
Said he had this much left to do 32303.jpeg

Those rounds are too big for Samson. I don't want 40+" of green post oak falling around.

I most definitely can not do what T.Jeff Veal is doing there! If I did that, the folks on the west coast very well might hear me scream in pain.

Over the winter, we finally pulled enough wood from the biggest shed so we were able to finish the partition wall. 0311231138_HDR.jpg
Monday, we got Blue Samson set up there and started processing the hickory we have to go into the right side...these are the 2 biggest... 0313230953.jpg
1st time Samson has tasted hickory, these logs are knotty, but not stringy. Samson did fine, grunted a bit on the lift... 0313231027.jpg
We got the big log on the left split and stacked, almost 4' high... 0313231411_HDR.jpg

The other day we replaced 1 row of 16" oak in this shed. Had a few logs leftover from another score. 0313230915.jpg

Thank You! If it can bust big Hickory no problem, you might be able process Blackgum.

I didn't get the video. Was using phone to play my headphones...it handled the big hickory, even with the 4-way on it. I went single wedge when got to the crotches and really big knots...as for black gum, gas is still too high for that... :rofl: :rofl:

We got the restaurant load ready, used some from another customer's rack, said he wouldn't need any more this year...:loco: :loco: ... 32707.jpeg
Then we started back processing hickory. Got the other big log split and stacked, about 8' high now. Then got the rest of the hickory from that score bucked. 833a5f37-e7cb-4de0-8380-5bfca2ea8937photo.jpeg

A friend called a few months ago about a nice white/post oak down on his hunting property. Got a chance yesterday to get it. Just a few miles from home. Had a 5 minute tractor ride from the tree to the trailer though, it was worth it.
The smaller limbs had been mulched already.
Main trunk was 46' long 32769.jpeg I cut the root ball almost off, cut a few logs off the top. Root ball set back in hole and it lifted the trunk out of the mud...:thumbs:... 32760.jpeg
Got pretty close to the ground, 26" DBH 4' up. 32763.jpeg
'Bota with a 6' log. Road was kinda narrow, had to wiggle the 9' between the trees. 32758.jpeg
With the main trunk and big limbs, made a nice load... 0315231410.jpg 0315231414_HDR.jpg

Thanks, brother. Didn't think we could make it up that hill with a loaded trailer and had some tight turns. Had thought about skidding a long section out, but that can cause more erosion and dirt/rocks in the log to deal with.

About 4 minutes, I was in a lower gear too. At least it wasn't far in the truck. We don't get white/post oak often.

Went to the woodyard last night after work. Got the rest of the hickory split into the shed... 0318232314_HDR.jpg
    0318232313.jpg
Big pile of uglies we're giving to a friend, their hunting cabin has a huge fireplace, don't feel like noodling them to size... 0318232313a.jpg
Chud I found the Delilah to Blue Samson last night...big hickory crotch round... 0318232107.jpg
Hit 3000psi on gauge, single wedge...that's some tough stuff.
So I repositioned it, and took slabs off the sides... 0318232107_HDR.jpg
    That broke it on down...
Only got the 2 stump cut offs left to do from this hickory score, then we will start on some older hickory logs we got from the Plantation job.
