He texted me to let me know they just dropped an ash tree in an industrial park in town . I went by with my truck after work and grabbed some rounds. I will be going back this weekend with the saw to get the trunk. The rounds from the limbs are right on the edge of being punky. The trunk seems better although I noted some ant damage.
Good to have connections! Those are my favorite kind of texts. Getting harder and harder to find ash that is all good, but some decent wood there. Keeping that 261 busy!
That’s a great score, congrats So, what is this Ash and Elm y’all speak so fondly of? We have no such trees here that I’m aware of.
That's nice. My town's workers are out the very next morning with a stake body truck to pick up yesterday's work. A person has to be real quick. The town has one of those huge (multi)million dollar tub grinders that can handle whole stumps.
Went back this morning and got a good bit of the trunk. After bucking it was noodling, sledge and wedge, and Fiskars. It’s a good thing it was all back roads home. This Dakota is a bit overloaded.
We must have that around here too. Whole trees get removed so quickly that this has to be how they do it. Basically no evidence of a chainsaw bucking anything. I know they sell the wood chips as mulch.
It's turned into compost here at the sewer plant. The town also collects lawn clippings and landscape trimmings several times a year. They mix sewer sludge with it (they have politically correct names for it all) and sell it wholesale for potting soil. Nice for flowers, I wouldn't use it for vegetables.
