Got a nice load of white oak today. Another half load tomorrow. I love white oak. This was storm damage. The guy has a few trees he wants removed too; some cherry, a nice shagbark, and a post oak. Nothing better than helping folks clean up storm damage and scoring premium fire wood all at the same time. And that little redmax gz4000 cut at least half of it. That's a sweet little saw.
Fully loaded trailer of white oak. Smells kinda like vanilla and real good for stoves. Great score, Cory.
Nice find and that is a good looking trailer. It will be handy for hauling home the rest of the wood. Enjoy the oak.
Nice score! I'm in the middle of processing a bunch of white oak myself. Great stuff, just let it season a good 3yrs.
I know it looks about the same, but this is the second load. It's bigger than the first. My transmission is gonna cry itself to sleep tonight
Hr woodsman is responsible for me landing this wood. He has helped me haul home a lot of wood. His wife calls us the chain gang.
Thats that shi*t load of wood man, my trailer would poop it's pants if I tried to put that much wood on it
I have a 92' Z-71 with a little over 206,000 miles with the original transmission.....no issues...knock on wood. I remember my Forestry professor telling us white oak is the preferred wood when storing/aging bourbon. Down my way, white oak acorns are loved by white-tail deer. My Wildlife Professor told us one day concerning white oak acorns, "White Oak acorns are to deer what Lays potato chips are to us....can't just eat one".
Those 4l60 variants aren't that bad if you take it easy on them. I haven't had any issues with mine but they are known to somewhat of a week link. Just keep them out of overdrive when towing heavy stuff. If mine goes I'll get it built up as well is can be. They can be built pretty strong.
More wood. I've taken home over 3 cord of white oak and hickory in the last month. This, for me, has been a hell of a score.
