Since being diagnosed and beginning treatment I have been doing a lot of research and learning about this disease. Prior to being hit with the diagnosis, I like most males, took the concept of Prostate Cancer as not something of much consequence and it can't happen to me. Boy have I gotten a reality check. I have learned many things I never knew and I also learned you CAN teach a "old dog" new tricks. I came across this video recently which talks about how and why diet and lifestyle have a effect on not only this disease but also daily life as we age. Thought I would share the info with those who might be curious or interested.
Sorry that you are going thru this. I hope you see positive results from your chosen courses of action. It runs thru my Ex's family - roughly 1/2 the males have developed it over the last 3 generations that have made it to 50 YO (so obviously, not counting younger generations). And at least 3 of the males didn't make it to 50 so the odds in that family are not good. Most grew up on small farms and lived active country livestyles.
Definitely, beat that ghost! I know several men who have won the battle. Some had it removed while others took treatments but all those guys are still active today. One, a neighbor just turned 65. Another friend just is 78 and still working! Says he will never retire, although I kid him because he has slowed down some.
Great vid. Thanks for posting. Curious how you are doing with a new lifestyle, what measures have you taken, results, and advice. I thought their comments on exercising as we age was a potent one. There were several benefits listed, which surprised me. I think wood hoarding is something I like to much because it isn't generally high impact on the joints, is usually a good steady heart-rate activity. Something I hope to continue in for a long time, even if I can't keep up with our needs 100%. My fathers before me have all refused to become fat sedentary couch potatoes....we've often made light humor of their activities they find in the yard just to keep busy. (all of great grandpa's hemlocks are trimmed 6 feet up from the ground to 'maintain the view'.) One faith lesson I hope to see come to pass, I believe we should die of old age, not a sickness. Is not the Creator master of the created? Also fwiw: Autumn Olives are very high in Lycopene, and make a good jam or sauce. Hammerhead20 stick with it!! I'm pulling for ya!! (Sirchopsalot war-whoops in the background). Stomp on that thing like the serpent that it is!!
Fortunately about a year before I was diagnosed I went onto the Keto diet and has intentionally lost about 125lbs. That I am sure really helped for what I was to face, un beknownst to me at the time. I feel 110% better
Thank you for posting. I pray that you are ok and the process isn’t too stressful. I’ve been watching YouTube videos about healthy living. I am shocked how bad the food at the grocery store actually is. We have switched most of the meat we eat to locally raised. I am trying to get into a daily exercise routine also, I didn’t realize just how beneficial that is. I’m as concerned with my mental health as I am with my physical health.
