What's up, fellas? I'm thinking of getting a Navien combi boiler (propane) that also heats my domestic hot water. Anybody have any experience, good or bad, with these systems? (I currently have an oil burner with a hot water coil that doesn't provide enough domestic hot water AND my oil tank (indoors) has a slow leak.
I have never heard of them either, which is strange since I did some research when I had to replace my gas boiler and separate water heater a month ago or so. But then again, I didn't get too in depth since I was in a time crunch (my water heater crapped out), and I just wanted to see if the units that were being quoted for install were any good.
Yes, I'm surprised you didn't hear of them when you were looking into gas boilers. I had 2 different plumbers come and look at my set up and they both recommended the Navien combi system, partially because my oil tank is leaking (now I don't need to replace the oil tank), but also it's supposed to be a very energy efficient system that provides plenty of hot water on demand.
I got quotes for HTP and Veissman from local installers. I'm in a small town and rarely will anyone from a larger city come out to quote for anything (or they want to wait and bundle all trips in this area on the same day). So it is whatever our local guys work with. They may have only quoted what they had on hand since they knew I'd been without hot water for several days.
