1st load in the basement last weekend white oak that has been stacked out side for 2 years and I packed it in a breezy sun part of a barn since may. Me and my boy was stacking it in the basement and its a dry basement and I told him when we was done stacking hey bring me that dehumidafiar and we put that thing against the wood and 3 tanks of water so far !!!!!!! What yall think of that ??
How long did it take to get 3 tanks? Good question. Mine filled up rather quick. Now I have a hose from the tank, to my sump pump.
Note that dehumidifiers cost quite a bit to run. I stuck a killawatt on mine and figured that each tank was costing $.75. Do that day in and out all summer long and it adds up. I stuck an AC into my basement window instead. The basement is much more comfortable for listening to tunes and posting on FHC.
Griz, that is interesting but doesn't surprise me. This is why we won't even think about burning oak until it has been split and stacked 3 years minimum. We don't mind leaving it in the stack longer either.
