Hello, hoping someone can help explain. I noticed the glass on my wood stove is turning white in the center. I tried cleaning it no luck. I tried to do some research but still don't know what to do if anything. Does anyone know what is causing it. I appreciate any suggestions, thanks everyone. Dave
Hello, the stove is a Travis Hybrid-Fyre and it's three years old. I tried cleaning it with wood stove glass cleaner, the glass is very clean except for the whitish spots in the center of the glass.
Try some 0000 steel wool and some glass cleaner. You can find the 0000 at most big box stores in the paint section; near the sandpaper and whatnot. You can test it out on a small area of the glass first. It should not scratch, but better safe than sorry.
I only use ash to clean the glass. Try using that before the steel wool, than move up to the steel wool with some more ash.
Don’t know if this would help with your issue but we have used “Dirtex” in the spray can on our Jotul for over 20 years and it’s always worked well. Occasionally if there’s a stubborn spot in one of the lower corners we just use the paper towel with a little spray and some ashes.
