Pellet heads!! What's up today?

He pays me back for the groceries and sends a pre-written check for the pharmacy. He has no money and his house is a run down shack that he better not leave to me as I'd have to pay someone to take it off my hands (it would have to be razed). There is absolutely nothing in it for me except for exercise (snowblowing/shoveling/mowing) and knowing I am doing a good deed.

His wife, who was in a care facility for the last 6-7 years, passed last summer. I think they had 2 sons; I believe one died before I even moved here 10 years ago and the other is estranged.

 

I got out about 6:30 and spent 1.5 hours cleaning up 8-9" of snow. It was fairly light then and cleaned up nicely. At 11:30 am, I went out again for another 1.5 hours of cleanup. Only about 4" at that time, but much harder to clean up as it was like setting concrete. It snowed pretty good until about 3, but the temp was 36* so it didn't really accumulate on areas that were cleared.

Glad I didn't wait like the neighbor up the street - he spent hours just trying to do his driveway with his brand new snowblower. Those neighbors moved in last December and had been shoveling - which even for the smaller storms wasn't a pretty site as they would wait until they needed to leave so the berm would be frozen (they WFH and it would sit for days - maybe they were hoping for meltage - LOL). City people used to living in apartment or condo.

I know they thought I was crazy for always getting out there early and often instead of waiting until the end, but maybe they'll learn. Or, complain that the snow blower they bought was Sh*t

Well that storm was a nothing burger for us. We got maybe an inch. Lots of wind and rain though. Being so close to the ocean really affects the weather. I knew we were going to get rain because the wind was off the water and it was 36 degrees. What is crazy is 1 mile down the road they got 6 inches and a couple more miles inland got almost a foot. Glad everyone made it through the storm!

I pray that when your time of need should ever come, that you'll have some friends that when help you with your needs. We often hope that need won't happen, but I have to tell you that it does. My wife and I are both dependent for some help. I can't do any outside work. I used to be so active with that. Inside I am very limited, but still can do my daily needs. Wife does the shopping. we have about any handicap help device going. What I have a hard time with is stores with doors too heavy to open, or steps, or narrow iles That is why I use the big stores when I do go out. (haven't been out but once this year, except for MD and hospital visits. VA is but three miles from me. I want to go to Lowes, HD, and the new Harbor Freight. By then end of this month, I am anticipating some warm days. At least warm enough to go out and sit in a chair and enjoy the sounds, the smell, and the wonders of nature as it brings spring into being.

 

The big snow storm was supposed to be 8-10 we got maybe 4 inches. Next day was sunny and 47, just about everything melted. I'm still rocking the original sheer bolts, I'd be surprised if one ever actually breaks.

 

you were lucky. We got at least a foot here. The sun is much higher now and daylight longer so the snow is compacting and melting. I can see it melting off the shed roof as I sit here. That is a nice wide blower her have there. I once owned a 48 in. blower. Did one hell of a job moving snow. My son now prefers to move the snow with his ATV and attached plow. He has plow for his truck, but hasn't used it this year. It is a job taking it on and off.

 

I seen this tractor 5 years ago while getting parts for mine. I've enjoyed it, including the heated cab. I'm not getting any younger.

 

that kind of investment is much more satisfying than say a splurge on a sports car or something similar. At least to me.

 

How about a cup holder? Need somewhere to hold that coffee! I sent my snow thrower out to my son's home. He has a monster deck and my machine has saved him a lot of shoveling.

I try to also stay hydrated between drinks.

 

Me too, but I am referring to behind the EARS, you are far from old there are some of us that are older than you pup!

I'm not that old,not yet! I decided to not snowblow for over 2 hours in sub zero temps with cold stuff hitting me in the face. It's a current and future investment.

It gets used when it snows. Unless I grade my driveway with it.
