Not paying jobs...lol... The guy that gave us all the hickory, oak and ash at the end of '21/startof '22 has some more OAK trees for us. I might scrounge around in his piles and see what else is there.
Awesome thread and a big job well done jeff! How much of it would you guess you still have to process back at home?
I'd guess at least 85%, probably. We are on the log rack that has the 1st trees cut now. We have processed a few cords when we didn't have room to stack logs
I fall behind on stacking! Splits from a couple winters ago still in a mound! Ill trade ya. Ill split all your wood and you can stack all mine...fair enough?
Sawing is a blast. Splitting….not as much. Then there’s stacking! Honestly, I don’t mind stacking the amount i cut for myself each year. It’s everyone else’s I can’t stand stacking
Then you have to stack it for the occasional customer too. Do stack for folks when they ask. For an additional fee of course.
It happens. If I get dry wood ready to burn, I just throw it in a mound and burn it right away. Stacking is my least favorite part of firewooding.
There’s one customer I stacked for and she compensated me for it. Didn’t care when I delivered. Very flexible to work with. Unfortunately had to let her go this year cause she was also one of my more distant customers and I didn’t have near the volume to sell like seasons past.
We are officially finished with the Plantation job. It was fun playing with the toys...err...tools on this job. We hauled a load of tops/big limb wood to my cousin Monday, have to get a picture. Then cleaned up all the brush, made 2 big burn piles. Tuesday, we carried the sweet gum logs to the chip mill... Both loads were almost the same. About $24/ton, only had to go a few miles, help with fuel expenses Right side yard Left side yard Part of the back yard He said he wanted to keep some wood for his firepit. He's gonna need a big wood shed...lol... We brought the tractor and a couple pallets of bricks home. Our pastor is getting the bricks. Ol F150 handled to fine. I didn't get in a hurry. And his MIL wants her section next to this thinned out later.
