So......just who is the resident kubota expert on FHC anyway?

2018 kubota BX23S with 100 hours. They want 21K for it but have had it for 4 months now.

Just a quick attach bucket and backhoe with mechanical thumb. Don't know anything else about it.

That’s about what ones around here go for. I think they are too small to do much, I’d go to a B or maybe an L with a backhoe but maybe that bx is exactly what you need? They sure are popular. Good luck sir!

The market on those are failing rapidly. Every dealer has more than they want on their lots. Wait it out some and you can get a new one for that price. All the 23s is is a powered goon spoon not big enough to accomplish lots.

We started with a BX it was a good machine but took a long time to do what I was looking for it to do. Upgraded to a B3300, I still wish it was bigger. Lol.

the weight of the machine in my experience is the limiting factor. It was an expensive mistake in the long run.

What are you long to do whit it?

Driveway maintenance (gravel) ditch maintenance alongside the driveway is where the backhoe would come in.

Into the woods on property (no roads) to grab some trees instead of carrying out the pieces one by one.

Lifting logs for easier cutting. Grapple brush for easier cleanup. Snow blowing driveway eventually....plow truck can't last forever.

Using bucket to push /dig snowbanks back while I'm still using the plow truck.

Backhoe also for digging holes for posts, planting trees, and whatever needs to be dug like trenches.

Dave if it's been for sale that long go and lowball it. Sounds like CBVT priced it new for little difference. The longer the interest rates rise along with this inflation the more people are going to tighten up.
It's a little machine but still beats the he!! out of a wheelbarrow and a shovel.
Give him some time (months) to stew over your offer and make sure he's got your number.

My 2 cents... "Using bucket to push /dig snowbanks back while I'm still using the plow truck"... that's a great combo imho, and I'd hang on to the plow truck as long as possible until you could add a heated cab. I really wish I hadn't sold our little Jeep/plow now. Also, the hyd thumb on the backhoe bucket would be great, along with the claw you mentioned. Here ya go Dave... :makeitrain"... go git it...:D

Good advice all around, yooperdave , above.

In software development we say a job has a development timeframe, cost, and quality, but you can only have two of those the way you want it (often phrased cheap, fast, good — pick two).

Not quite the same, but Tractor variables might include cost, reliability, and capability (weight, reach, HP, 4wd, etc, depending on your needs). I think you can’t replace weight with anything other than time (more weight saves time).

The thing is, I know I'll be regretting it within a couple of years due to it's small size.

I'd say me in as much as over the las 30 years I've owned at least 10 of them and kept getting bigger to what I* own now... 2 M9000's that I farm with and one has over 6500 hours on it and the other 4500 hours and no major issues with either.

The issue with buying a small Kubota like a BX for example is it's very limited in what it can actually do (as I found out years ago).

If I was going to buy a new or used Kubota, the smallest one's I'd look at is the MX series if you wan to actually do meaningful work and not have an expensive toy.

Of course both mine are gear drive with hydraulic shuttles. I'd never, never buy a hydrostat. Had them in the pas and just way too much parasitic power loss, especially on a lower powered unit.

Because both of mine are pre tier 4 tractors, they are holding their values quite well. In fact I could probably sell either one of them for what they cost me new...

Having a small tractor (whatever brand) is like having a short Johnson. Good for nothing meaningful.

Reminds me of the joke where a "less endowed" guy goes into a brothel, shows his equipment, and the girls chuckle and ask..

"Who you gonna please with that?".. He replies.. "Me"

    As to the tractor..
Our BX25D, while limited, has been a great help here.

My needs are not extensive, and I have used it for all of the chores yooperdave listed.

Not as quick or powerful as larger equipment, and trenching would be faster & easier with a mini excavator, but those are kind of a one task machine.

Just the issue of connecting the house to our other well saved me over $8000 that I was quoted to have it done.

That said, if you can get the price down, it'd be something to consider.

We got ours for $14,500 including box blade, finishing blade, and delivery.

Can't remember exact hours, but think it was like 80-something.

Don't expect it to compete with the heavyweights, but it is a capable machine for small to medium size chores.

    $.02

You'd be surprised. They have a very tight turn radius in 2wd.

Took me a few to get up to 90 horses and sometimes that isn't quite enough. Both mine are dialed up a bit courtesy of my Kubota tech at the dealership who is a personal friend.

The one in my sig picture is making 93 pto and the other is making 90 and both have 3 sets of remotes as well as 540-1000 pto's.

I run a 84 shredder as well as a 10foot bat wing. Remember, I'm farming over 160 acres.

The issue with the little ones is, you have to remove the belly mower to do any dirt work with them (I kno0w, been there) and the loader capacity is minimal too. Both mine have loaders on them and both are capable of handling 2.5 ton with no issue.

Here is the other with a 10 foot snow plow and 84" blower on it. When it snows here, it's always big snow. I run chains on the front wheels only. No screwing around here bubba.
