I have burned a lot of black walnut tops because my timber sale loggers only take the saw logs. It dries much faster than oak but we are talking tops here. My wife doesn’t like me burning walnut because no matter how careful I am it leaves a fine fine dust all over the wood stove area. Finer than powered sugar and it goes everywhere. It throws heat about like hackberry or ash IMHO. So not bad heat but I don’t go out of my way to procure it.
