Ah, got it lol. I can see the idea of those unibody trucks, if they get car like, or at least crossover like, fuel economy. Then you have that, but a little bed that's still handier than a car. But, the Ridgeline gets mpg similar to a real truck, so why.
They ask have their place. The base maverick is a hybrid fwd. They get excellent mpg. 42 real mpg. If you get the Ecoboost non AWD, they get 33 real mpg. 4wd/ AWD lowers it a bit but that's impressive. If you don't need to tow/ haul a lot they really are game changers, and will do a lot of things that real trucks do. The Ridgeline makes less sense to me, turning a minivan chassis into a "truck". Then Honda uses that "truck" term to say they are a full line automobile company.
I know the Ridgeline has the same chassis as the Pilot. I don’t think it’s the same as the Honda Odyssey. I found the Ridgeline to be very capable for its size. It’s not meant to be a full size truck. It’s meant to be used for what it’s built for. I used mine to haul kids, AND do more real work than most of the guys I know that have full size half and three quarter tons. I’m not exaggerating when I say 95% of the time they are towing nothing and the bed is empty. LOL Oh, except the couple times a year they pull the camper trailer to the nearby campsites to go “camping”!
Pilot is on the Odyssey chassis. The second gen Ridgeline has an added " frame" to the unibody to stiffen up the chassis. This is how the second gen was able to get rid of the buttresses in the c pillar, and have the "line" that separates the bed from the rest of the body. Heck when I owned my Audi, I truck shamed pretty much every 1/2 and 3/4 ton truck I saw when I would haul 3500#+ of wood.
Daughter and Grandson here for a week! Came in yesterday and is it ever great to see them again. We were down there for five days after Christmas and it seems like a long time ago. Watching little one movies again.
Honda dealer told me the ridgeline is nothing more than a pilot turned into a truck....or was it a ridgeline turned into a suv? I forget now......
Stacked my red oak scores, shoulders and arms are whooped. A little more to go on the last stack, should be 3.5 cord. That and the last stack 5.25 cord of red oak total. Gotta clean up this mess.
Picked up around the woodpiles a little. Tuesday-Thursday this week, the forecast is 1-2 feet of snow. drive 170 miles to get ready for a pickup in the morning. Hope to be home by supper time monday
I really liked mine while I had it, and then sold it for a good price. Very reliable and held its value well. Needed something that could haul five of us in comfort and all our luggage. And hopefully plow and tow with it. The Suburban has turned out to be a plowing beast and was great on our first trip down and back to South Carolina. She like the gas though.
