Jeffrey Svabada, and Farmer J, Thank you so very much for your willingness to help.
I am going to call my dealer one more time, just to make sure, they have not gotten it in yet, and I will be back in touch with both of you.

    Thank you, Men

For all of the help with this. I figured someone on here could find a set for me.
It's not like it's an emergency for me, as you know, it's not my only saw, but I do miss it, as it was one of my favorites. And I was starting to get a little frustrated after 18 months.

Most rubber/ gasket/ o ring materials and producers are in Asia, Italy, and USA. There's exceptions though. The Russia/ Ukraine thing has definitely caused its own issues though, especially in stainless steel, but definitely not restricted to that. There's still basically rolling outages in the supply chain. It's better than it used to be, and shipping is less hassle than it used to be as well.

Anyone wanting to talk about supply chain shortages, I will be more than willing to have a conversation about it.

Was supposed to be ~12 weeks for some fairly basic Baldor XP motors (would have been in stock prior to 2020)
they just came in, 11 months! :hair:
70 weeks for ductile iron pipe that I could have made a 1 hour round trip to have the same day prior to 2020! :hair:

Delays are crazy that's for sure ! Been through quite a few machine redesign projects centered around material availability. We get some stuff from the Netherlands.....

Baldor is a gem compared to Leeson motors and even worse lead times and lack of communication.

    Fun times

And quality has gone to poop. Motors out of the box run hot, noisy and when opened up look like a student wound them.

    Tooling?

Of the nearly 20 years I've been a Buyer, I don't think I've ever bought anything from the Netherlands. Not that I was aware of at least. Then again, I used to buy air conditioner units for electrical enclosures that were made in Malta. Of all places.

I wanted to give a big Thank You to Farmer J. for sending me the gasket kit for my saw. I took it to my dealer, today. So, hopefully, they will get it fixed, soon.

Also, I want to thank everyone else who tried to help me out, and especially Jeffrey Svoboda for also, locating a gasket kit, and offering to send it to me.

You're a great bunch of guys, willing to help.

Thank you, One and all, very much.

    Nevada Fitch, (Lastmohecken)

Just FYI, follow up on my saw. The other day when I took the gasket kit to my Stihl dealer, I hammered on them pretty hard, and they went and got the owner and he was real nice. He wanted to know what I wanted. And I told him, that I wanted to know that with the gasket kit I gave them, did they in fact have all of the parts now, and when was they going to get it fixed. And I guess I ranted on and on about their parts supplier, etc.

Anyway, bottom line, the owner put a mechanic on my saw right away and I was able to pick it up, two days later.
So, at least, now I have my saw back, finally.

Thank again to everyone who helped me.

    Farmer J,
I hate to admit it, but they told me it had been test run, and I brought it home and set it down in the shop, to put a bar and chain on it, and that is where it still sits. Shortly afterwards, I got Covid for the second time in 2 years, and so did my wife. Well, that's blown up another two weeks out of my life. And during that time, my wife got dizzy and fell down, and I had a terrible time getting her back up off of the floor. I almost called 911 but I finally got her up, and I hurt my back doing so, and she hurt her back, also when she fell down.

So, it's been a real rodeo around my house! My back is ok now, but she is still dealing with her injuries. So, anyway, the saw is still lying there in the shop, waiting on my next move. I guess I didn't need it as fast as I thought I did, but that's life. At least I finally got the saw home, now. The rest is up to me. :)

For future knowledge, Stihl's parts distribution is actually pretty good. If one of the regional distributors has a part that's needed elsewhere, they CAN transfer it outside of their territory, even if they are a bit reluctant. What is more difficult to do, is to recall parts that may be in other dealers' inventories. That was a trick I've only seen Deere master. Dealers are generally not allowed to ship parts or wholegoods. When I was working for a dealership, our rep was fantastic. He would ask around at other dealers if there was something we were desperate for (wasn't too often back then as supply chains were fairly steady), usually a particular saw/trimmer/blower, and couldn't get in a timely manner from the usual channels due to hurricanes or other natural disasters cleaning out the regional warehouses. More often than not, he'd show up with whatever unicorn we were chasing in his trunk. :dex:
