Perfect weather today, no apts at the shop so I took a personal day off to help dad get some wood across the road from his house. Loaded up and ready. First one down was smaller and in the path of the bigger one. Hopefully this vid isn’t in ultra low def. It’s showing that way for me on the tube but the original vid is hq. And the bigger one falls. Used the ol Pioneer to buck some of this one. Stacked it on the edge of the field for him to get later. He was too worn out to continue.
Nice work The Wood Wolverine . Now you're just showing off using the Pioneer. How much does that thing weigh?
Looks like fun running that old saw. Reminds me of dads McCollugh when i was a kid. Ill bet you were worn out too. Some nice firewood there.
Great wood but is that poison oak/ivy vines? What is your black saw? What's in your satchel? That blue fuel can, what's that? Lol, questions!
I'm not sure on the vine, I'd guess it was poison. Dad handled most all of that and he had on long sleeves. I always wear gloves and as of today, no signs of itching. Black saw is a Jonsered 2150 (equivalent to the Husky 350) that I ported with a little assistance from a guy I know that ports saws. I Rit dyed it black and painted the metal clutch cover. That Husky bag contains the plastic case with 4 spare chains, scrench, spare plug, spare bottle of mix oil, tape measure, tuning screw driver, progressive depth gauge/raker plate and a flat file, etc. I've found it very convenient to put that stuff in there instead of throwing it in the back of the truck loose. The blue container I use for bar oil. Works like a no spill can. It's an old laundry detergent bottle.
Excellent brother! Love seeing the old Pioneer out there getting it done! After seeing this, I think I'll get the old RA out for tomorrow or Sundays work..
They have an awesome sound. This was the first time my dad saw it run since the mid/late 60's! He tells me my grandfather (mom's dad who I never met) was tickled at how fast this saw was, and they were all so happy to not have to use the 2 man crosscut saw anymore.
Their dual port mufflers have a totally unique sound for sure. I love having this old machine and enjoy using it on occasion, just for the appreciation factor alone. Makes me appreciate the evolution of the chainsaw....
Nice work, Awesome day, good job for helping Dad. Those vines surly look like poison ivy or poison oak.
Took my splitter over to my parents to split this ash pile. Great day for it. 2 truck loads later, dads hands started cramping up so we started piling it for later. This is some wood I need to dig through for them. There’s some more ash and cherry in there. And we split some of the Chestnut oak I gave them.
