Cutting this afternoon at my "Pro & cons" score and encountered this. Yellowish green heartwood, on the dense side and had an oakey smell to it. Second pic is fresh cut end. Third pic is of small and end grain color. Ran into some back in 2020 and was never IDed positively. Here was that thread. I think they are the same. Yard Tree ID
Is is a chinese chestnut. Talked with homeowner yesterday and he showed me where it was cut. Found this on the ground.
I have some in my stacks now from a dead section from a yard tree I cut a couple years ago. Plan on burning it next year. The rest of the tree is now dead and needs to be taken down. The tree was covered in ivy. I cut the ivy to kill it and the tree died shortly after.
First thing I thought when reading your response was that song by bare naked ladies with the line: “Chinese chicken” Now it’s gonna be stuck in my head all day! Thanks a lot Mind can sure do some funny things!
Sounds like you found your answer to your question! Very few and far between here. Trimmed one a couple years ago.
