The duramax didn’t want any part of it this morning at -20. It started about noon when temp warmed up to 0.
    Wife’s highlander started right up.
Feeding the woodstove, breaking the layer of ice off the chicken’s water every few hours (even with heat) and watching TV with the missus has been my workload all day so far.
I ran a waterline with a frost free hydrant from the house out to the garden last summer. She laughed at me for backhoeing a trench 5 feet deep to bury it.
It sure was satisfying to lift the lever at -21 and see water flow out this morning!

bogieb you left me with no such intention of being snarky.

Of the 100% of the gas you burn in that new unit, 95.5% of it is recovered as usable heat and the other 4.5% is power vented to the outside with the harmful exhaust gases.

Got the maple RO setup started but ran out of parts. Still need a needle valve, 10" particulate filters and another RO stage.

I saw that. I was outside burning up old pallets in the burn barrel and bringing up a cart of wood with Hayden and I saw that they shot it down. Hayden sure loves having a fenced in yard. IMG_20230129_154235627_HDR.jpg

A full day at the Popcorn road farm. Spent first part of the day cutting on various tree tops mostly cutting off each end of trunks and limbs for pulling out with the grapple in the near future , to get them to a level spot to cut and split.

a nearby fellow posted on a Facebook community page that he was out of propane and begged for scrap metal. He stopped by and I used the grapple to load all manner of scrap metal, and let him have a round baler I never used- to scrap or try to resell.

returned to cutting more treetops- a lot of oak- .

then at dark I came in to watch my recording of the Indiana against number 1 ranked Purdue; the arch enemy. A great game and the Hoosiers held on for the upset!

Indiana Women are ranked #4 and are whipping on the Big Ten. They play Purdue tomorrow I believe.

anyhow, The timber harvest remnants are looking better- the area I collected scrap worn out metal stuff can be mowed, and tomorrow is another day without worrying about going to work Monday!

He is very happy, and very lucky. Later this month he gets the snip snip though. :jaw:

That will help us get another pup though, which he will really appreciate.

Yesterday I brought home our new to us camper. We sold ours in the beginning of last year since we had started to outgrow it. We took our time shopping for a new model and looked at a ton of floorplans and we narrowed it down to this one. Thankfully I found it for sale about an hr from us and it was very well taken care of one by the original owner. The little pineys each have their own bunk now and the Mrs and I get a nice big bedroom. It may have been in the 20's yesterday but we fired the heater up and spent a good 4-5hrs hanging out in it last night. My SIL even brought dinner over and we all had dinner out there lol.

Nice looking unit. You are really going to enjoy it. Family camping is something the kids will always remember.

This deep chill is over. Several warming centers were open and cared for overnight guest. Some were homeless, others were there because they lacked heat in their home. Many different circumstances. So far, no report of anyone freezing to death, but it is early on yet. Weather forecast is much better for this next week. Our stove was cranking and went through a lot of pellets. I am greatful for the short duration of this cold spell. We have had them last for weeks.

Helped dad shorten the rest of his white oak. Should last them through this season. He had the jig I made him all chewed up. :picard: Glad I didn't use expensive wood to make it. :zip:
