I saw one that was a tractor like thing at lowes. It had like a 5k generator on it as well. Also had a small dump box in the back..bit for like $4000 I dont want to be mowing my lawn with my genearotor putting wear on it. But that said I bet the generator will be more likely to run than those who never start their generators.
I think its geared to the homeowner with an acre or so. Not to now but total lot size. The box on its kind of laughable and they may not use a genny much. So it gives them a mower a sort of UTV and a generator. And cause so.wine with a .5-1 acre lot won't wearout a mower in 10-20 years it may not be a bad option.
It's a gas electric hybrid. Most generators sit around and never get used. This way you have one less engine to maintain.
I understand mike but I think its best for the homeowner I described. I fit that category but I run old ragged stuff so the price do sent make sense to me.
After taking another look I kinf of like the idea, I would think the genny is a good idea at remote locations but a bonus attached to the engine. It can haul some decent weight, mower deck and go off road a bit. Not sure if would work for anyone, more like a special purpose type of machine.
My understanding is that it was a massive flop at Lowes, plagued by a stop sale, recall, and quality issues. I can't ever see the concept taking off with the current technology. And obviously using the big box stores as your servicing dealer network didn't go so well. Lots of DOA units from what I read. Good stuff ain't cheap and cheap stuff ain't good. This thing isn't cheap and doesn't seem to be well liked either.
It does seem cheap and overly complicated. But if all things were equal Id pay a little extra to have a mower with a generator built in.
John Deere GT235E Was a one model limited production run. Did not have nearly as big of a generator as the Raven does but it was a much better tractor/mower that could run power tools like a drill or a saw in the field. Price (back in early 2000s) was pretty close too. Plenty of progress being made in the hybrid mower department but the focus is on golf course turf equipment rather than homeowner stuff.
