This double trunk beech was splitting and there were no less than3 buidlings and a fence at risk if it fell. Ratchet straps were applied to hold temporarily until the tree service could find time to take it down safely. Got some decent firewood and big pile of chips in the end. 327980970_723239732534450_4596213561941237963_n.jpg 329172841_560926572719210_9147580731663495965_n.jpg 328490859_3423484031266800_3598756018039156632_n.jpg 20230203_130654.jpg

Smart move calling in the pros. Got some good wood out of it too. Any mill fodder?

No, that was Bryan from Climb High Tree Service working for Bartlett Tree Experts. They do good work at a fair price.

That's a scary looking tree! Glad you got the tree crew in before anything happened.

Good that you know when to say " when" and call in the big guns.
I have a few out in the back here that need to go and they are way out of my league. Time to start getting a few estimates.

Yes, they chipped a lot. Beeches get really bushy in the crown. Also, I've already got a ton of firewood on the ground that needs C/S/S before they started on this tree.

I have thought about renting one for a week , you know the size of them ( they aren't small by any means )!
They really can't hit anything but no way on earth they can just be dropped without some trimming first.
There would be some beautiful logs for the mill for sure and a poop load of firewood as well.
