When I had the OWB, I wouldn't even have hesitated grabbing it all.

I'm thinking of buZZsaw BRAD and his selling business. It isn't the best quality firewood to sell someone as it'll burn up quickly (after he re-cuts everything) and customers will remember how quick they went through it.

But yeah, just like Rope The OWB loves such gifts!

I suppose Brad can charge customers less than normal since they are getting a lower quality and size of firewood......people like a deal. :handshake: What say you Brad?

On a side note, in the four years that you've been here, this is the first time I can remember that you have asked about grabbing it or not.
Usually, all we get are some pics of a overloaded white truck with safety cones all around it!!

A lot of my customers are "casual" burners and just want to watch the pretty flames so they get mixed hardwood. The ones that have stoves will get better btu wood. Honestly most burners dont know the difference...wood is wood to them. I keep a cottonwood split in the PU and show customers. Light as a feather and most are amazed by it

Norway maple is good btu firewood. Comparable to ash in terms of splitability, drying time and btu's so some better wood.

Being the newest score i will work it. Just have to iron out the details with the others.

Does BE split nice and straight? Dry in less than a year? Maybe save a log or two for the mill. That red color is cool.

Once in a while you'll get a tree, or parts of a tree, (large trunk maybe) that splits straight, but mostly not...doesn't split hard, just not straight...and yes it dries pretty quick.

Well, I know buZZsaw BRAD likes to get "new to him" wood. And I know he mixes a few pieces of shoulder wood into his bundles. And like you said, he doesn't usually ask about whether he should hit a score or not. So, for all those reasons, I figured he would and should work it.

I don't get the hate for BE. Mix some BE with black cherry and you have a great SS combo, IMO. I won't pass it up.

I say 6-9 months around here. Depends on location of course.

I do, the outside to inside temp differential is really where the BTU’s are going. Let just say it’s only 0* outside, that’s 70* differential. Just a few days back when it was -52* well that a 122* difference. I probably burned more wood in that 5-6 day span than some burn all season.

This year looks worse than other and I’m at 17-18 cords already and will be heating until end of May or June.

Imagine BE to be a 50/50 mix of poplar and silver maple. Dries extremely fast in my neck of the woods and does not last very long in the firebox. Sure it throws heat, just not very long. Perfect SS wood.
