Thursday, Dallas running up 35W to 67 back to Minnesota., txdot was liquid pretreating the roads. For what, I have zero clue. My permit route had me take 35W to 67 to 408 to 635 to get to US75N to Oklahoma.
The only problem here is the 7.7 Million people who live here and apparently, don't deal with slick roads well.
People in the south don't deal with snow well. Most dot's are only marginally set up to deal with storms, especially significant ones. It doesn't take much around here to make things interesting, I imagine even more so further south, especially Texas.
They keep showing snow flakes and ice pellets on the weather here, along with red exclamation marks on some days. Then it goes away, then comes back. So they keep seeing something, or tying to make something up, for here. We have been getting lots of rain and staying mud. Eventually the weather will sync and we're gonna get nailed..... Hopefully the one you're quoting doesn't come past TN...
Up here, a little snow or ice is nothing. Down there it's a major event. 19 here tomorrow, no big deal snow too. It is winter after all. I remember being in Atlanta years ago during a snow event and talk about dodgem. People in the south don't have a clue. Remember, it's 'Global Warming'....
When you look at loads going south and East and realize… taking a load from central Iowa to NE North Dakota is a “best options”… Mother Nature and old man winter need to put the sex toys away…
I like having 4 seasons actually because I farm. The land needs to rest to provide a bountiful harvest. We looked at buying a ranch in Texas but the land there isn't nearly as productive as it is here and our farm depends on that.
We are done at Coke a Cola, left Dallas at 12:15. Just got into Oklahoma City having dinner at the legendary Cattleman's next to the stockyards. (not the chain). I wanted to push straight north to get through it before it got bad. There were some sketchy areas, but Texans did well. Kept the speeds down. Didn't see any cars spun out until Oklahoma and then, well, people doing dumb stuff.
Just saw a memory pop up today that 4 years ago it was just air temperature -38° today. So the -20° that I woke up to doesn't seem so bad.
