Quick trip out to my parents Saturday night to see some family. Dad decided to save the dead Elm I dropped a few weeks back for the mill instead of turning it into BTU's. We had never milled elm before, cuts and smells similar to oak. It was dead standing no bark, MM read 22%. IMG_3525.jpg IMG_3521.jpg IMG_3523.jpg IMG_3526.jpg IMG_3524.jpg IMG_3522.jpg

I've made a lot of furniture from elm. I love the way it looks but it is miserable to work with. There's usually a tremendous amount of tension that releases and curves boards when you cut them to width. That said, I'd do it again just because it isn't something you see every day.
