You know, that’s the first thing I thought about after the ER visit  :rofl: . I had surgery on my right shoulder about 18 months ago so I have the left hand “wipe” thing pretty well dialed in

Thanks! Yes since working position was reversed that was one of the largest mitigating factors I believe.

I never really thought about it but I guess I am guilty of one handing a saw occasionally. Bucking a large log I'll sometimes let go for a little bit.
When doing so instinctively I'm standing way to the left of the saw.
Never thought of it being cool.

Thanks to everyone for the kindness and encouragement. It speaks to the character of the members here that I haven’t been “flamed” or ridiculed for being so clumsy, or stupid to have pulled this type of boneheaded maneuver……..Although I am certainly all of those things, especially in this case :D

Y’all stay safe and happy wooding!

this group is very sympathetic as most of them have done something similar and have gotten hurt.

Yep. I have come close plenty of times while splitting. I notice my hands get 'sloppy' when I'm running low on gas. I've run my splitter from opposite side a little and totally understand how awkward it is. Glad you got to keep it.

Work comfortable - easier on the body, even when everything goes to plan!

    Ergonomics matter!

Best wishes for a fully recovery.

Well, a short update….Last visit to hand surgeon they told me that unless I had a problem I was cleared for no more follow up visits:thumbs:. Still pretty sore but able to start and run chainsaws and splitter again, though Dr just shook his head:D.

Glad you still have the finger to heal, JD Guy ... hope it settles down soon, relieving the pain. I'm pretty sure it's impossible to do this kind of work and not have Murphy's Law show up, any chance it can. It tried to take your finger... but it just couldn't do it... :dex::p:D

Actually the “incident report “ :picard: was dated 21 January so was a month. Time flies! I am very thankful that it was not worse and I have a newfound appreciation for safety in the woodpile
