A young man in town has these listed as 25 bucks a truck load, down from 50 a truck load. He claims oak and elm. I agree on the elm, but need some help with the oak. I have yet to css any oak so my eyes aren't helping much. What say y'all? Much obliged.
There could be, can't say I've ever seen it, but not knowing what it looks like for sure may be the exact reason I ain't never seen it!
Here are the other pictures he put up. I can't say i enjoy buying rounds but I thought if there truly was some oak in there it would be worth it.
I do see some silver maple in the mix. I like burning maple. It seems to burn decent, maybe a little on the quick side but doesn't seem to shed bark and looks nice in the stacks.
Ole boy lowered price to 10 a load, went this morning and loaded up probably more than i should. Lift gate for the win.
I'd say about a third if them were cut nice. The other ones just had to be taken down to around 16ish inches. Still pretty slick to not have to drop, limb or clean up. Did a little bucking on a trunk. All in all a pretty sweet gig in my books. I may go back in the morning If i feel up to it. Ended up moving them all into a different trailer so the one with the lift gate would be available if I go back. Seems like double the work but didn't have to lift them off the ground at least.
The whole load is silver maple, well, at least thats what i wanted it to be. I think there is at least one more load of it there. A decent amount of it was completely rotted out in the middle, so it will stay there. After that there is Siberian elm for days and days. I bet PatrickNY is right, they will be paying to get rid of it. Most people around here think it's junk, but i burn it quite often and have nothing against it.
