The guy I bought wood from this weekend is moving and wants to sell his stove in addition to selling me his stash. It is a Napoleon 1900 that looks like it needs a complete overhaul...not damaged but needs everything including a paint job. He priced the parts out at $300 and thinks he can get $700 for the stove as is. I told him I didn't think I was interested at any price but that I would poll the experts. Is he in the right ballpark?
Don't buy it. Their air manifolds crack and are not replaceable. Even if he gives it to you free, you will soon be looking for a place to sell it as scrap metal after using it only a year or two. This means you will install it, buy baffles, bricks, etc and then have to toss all of it once the manifold cracks. Best just to get an NC30 from Home Depo.
I've not hat any problems with my Napoleon 1900p yet and have been using the stove nonstop from October til May since 2008, I did replace the bricks and the baffles once but no problems with the mainfolds...... I'd offer him 450-500 max. I bought my stove (it was a year old when I bought it and only fired a handful of times) for 900 bucks. It was basically like new. It also had a blower on it and that's a pricey option......
I'll tell you one thing.....that stove can crank out the heat. I heat my 2850 sq ft house with it easily......
any of you guys ever brought a wood stove from northerntool.com looking to replace my old wood stove.

I've got a 1900 that I bought new to put in our home we built last year. We have 18' foot ceilings in the great room that has a balcony for the upstairs. I have two 60" fans on that 18' ceiling and last year I ran one on low or medium. Up stairs stays toasty of course, down stairs isn't as hot but comfortable. At night, the gas furnace will kick on every once in a while. House is 2500sqft. But I love the stove. Looks good and is efficient. It's my second Napoleonon, first was a 1700 I think.
@JoshC welcome to the FHC! We LOVE our 1900p, this will be our 7th season heating with it. Our well insulated 2800 sq ft home is easily heated with it, we also have a Napoleon NZ3000 fireplace and it too is an incredible heater......we alternate the stoves in milder weather and fire them both when the mercury plunges....house rarely ever goes below 72 all winter, even in sub zero temps..........
