32 The Wood Gun is still going from last night’s load that consisted of a large split of Yellow Birch, large splits of White Pine, and a few small splits of White Ash. I’ll be loading it up with about the same for the long haul of today.
Sitting at -12 C/ 12 ish? F. Loving this weather. We've had some cold, but this seems to be one of those "warm" winters so far. I can't even explain how much it helps a guys mood to be able to be outside and actually enjoy the weather rather than just tolerate it. Don't get me wrong I'm part polar bear, but undoing your coat and taking off a toque is not normal in January here. Pine chunks keeping little Chernobyl happy.
Worked up in Prince Albert, installing a boiler in the pulp mill. Spent 5 months there. The job was over in October so I did not experience any winter conditions. Great bunch of people up there!
Sadly, we lost the mill many years ago...I mean, there's something going on out there, but way back when the mill provided around 700+ jobs. Now, they quote 200 when they fire back up in 2023. We're consistently in the top 5 for crime in Canada year over year! But drive 10 minutes out and you're golden.
49 degrees at 9:30 on 1/5! No fire and we have 71 in. Feels like I should get the yard roller out soon.
Ground white again but it is also melting as we lost all the frost. I wonder how long it will take to freeze up again?
39F outside. 68F inside. Loaded the stove last night at 8 before I went to bed, came down at 5 this morning to see a bright red glow behind the window in the stove. Easy to get the stove up and running again. Dogs sleeping on the couch, wife and daughter sleeping in the guest room. Last weekend where we're the parents of only one child. Second will be here Monday they say.
