Been falling behind in the BL hoarding. Rain, deliveries and other scores have delayed it. Gonna try and make up for it this week.

I'm just waiting on some more favorable weather. I left some big rounds of a chestnut oak on the ground. Plus there are a few more tree's that need dropped @ my oak honey hole.

I have not messed with scrounging for over a month. Weather, lack of free time with sunlight, and low need for firewood since I'm setting on 3 years of cut, split, and stacked.

On the way to work 4 hours before this Arctic blast I picked up 6 ft of 20" diameter dead ash for some extra weight in the truck bed....and if needed some big over night burns

Got a nice load of Mulberry today & some junk for the burn pile.
My 9 y/o niece was wanting something to do so she ran the splitter a bit while I was cutting & did most of the loading while I split the bigger stuff. It made life much easier with her her helping load & driving the Gator/splitter so I could take the wagon & not have to make multiple trips. She even thanked me for letting her help.

Made a makeshift wood pile cover.
Made good use of some decent sized sections and secured a "1/2 assed" structure to it.
Will make a much better unit this winter/spring but this will need to make do for now. Lol. So janky...needs a better tarp.

After breaking my back this spring (not back to 100% yet) and not wanting to fight with a loose laid tarp then dig through the snow to get to each piece. (I normally toss into piles in my woods then covered with tarp, when my feed pile runs low up to house i go get more from woods). Keeps the mess in the woods this way. Those days of doing that are ending soon. Ill just make 1 big pile now as i cut by the barn.

This winter I'll build a nice snow bin with cover. Concrete floor, concrete 3'x5' blocks for containment. Then frame up an ACTUAL roof over it. (Think similar to a bin at any landscape yard except with a roof over it)
Thinking (2) 11Wx25Lx10H should do? Just dump trailer and push it in.

I saw this at the gas station on my way out of town this evening. The guy was born and raised here, now lives 65 miles south. I know he used to sell firewood. Apparently he still does. I think it’s ash, didn’t walk over and get a close look, but I know it made me envious BE9686D0-4127-48C0-979A-DDF14A139A7B.jpeg
