Supposedly to open stores in Ct, NY and Pa in 2023. Apparently a downsized walmart/target format

My 1971 Sears garden tractor (built by Roper) is built like a tank compared to today's "offerings".

I also have some old Sears tools that are incredibly rugged.

The local Ames building where I am still stands empty. Can't remember what the "Z" store they bought out prior to going under, do remember calling them "Zames" though.

The Bradlees building is long gone though. Torn down and now a Kohl's.

It is kind of ironic that Sears Canada went down the tubes a few years ago. For us it was always catalogue shopping through them - harbinger of the future online shopping trend. I wonder if they could have hung on long enough if the online shopping would have saved them or was catalogue shopping was not their service mode anymore.
I realize that stores like Canadian Tire and Walmart have made goods far more accessible and cheaper but a company like Hudson's Bay still manages to hang in there with expensive products.

Baled hay all summer and bought my first shotgun from Montgomery Wards just in time for hunting season. Can still remember my dad driving me to the store and how excited I was.
