It's 56 F outside, so we shut down the stove and replaced all the fire bricks. They were in pretty rough shape. I replaced the "baffle blankets" and pipe earlier this year.. Basically, back to new. I love the super simple but effective design of the PE firebox. So easy to perform routine maintenance.
Looks pretty spiffy with the new bricks. I also took advantage of the warm temps and dropped the cat shield and vacuumed the ash off. Couple spots on the ceramic cat starting to degrade so I will get a new one before next winter. Had the stove fired back up once and it still works for this season.
I have a PE - Summit as well and am needing to replace the baffle and "blankets." I have had the stove for about 8 years. I have taken the baffle out multiple times to clean it and such. At one time, PE had a lifetime warranty on the stainless-steel baffle. Do you know if this continues to be the case? Mine has started to warp and is probably not as efficient as it once was. I have read that the company can be difficult to work with on warranty issues and they tend to make the claim that over firing, which is user error, is the reason for the warping. Thus, no warranty. While I do not think that I have over fired mine, I have no way of knowing what the cause of the warping. Nevertheless, I am needing to get it replaced.
