I spent the late afternoon today splitting some apple logs I had cut last summer. There was more there than I thought and I now have nearly a face cord of apple wood that will be great for next season. I kept working until well after dark (it gets dark wayyyyy too early!). My wife told me I am possessed. She's not wrong.

    :D

The smell of a mound or stack of apple is divine. Burns hot and leaves little ash. I love it.

I just came in at 8:30 from a 2 hour splitting and stacking session. Had 3 Colemans and a fire going, 40 degrees and hardly a breath of air moving. It was very enjoyable and good for my soul. Thought about taking some pictures and resurrecting the Splitting in the dark thread.
