It seems like it stays cold those months, but we don't normally get such low temps then.
5 yrs ago it was warm enough the end of January, we had a tornado. Our grandson was born that weekend

    Good morning, members.

Mid-20's with high overcast. Sunny and mid-30's later.

I'm planning to smoke up 2 pork butts later this week. They are out of the freezer thawing out.

I hope to go for a walk today, as well as some grocery shopping.

    Be safe
    Be healthy

Coaling can be a problem for many, especially during the real cold snaps. I have not had a problem with that for a long time. Normally in real cold weather, as the stove temperature starts dropping it seems natural to put more wood in and there is the problem. During the coldest days i will increase the draft even before it seems one should. That will hold the stove temperature up but as it starts dropping again I give it full draft. Sometimes I will lay one split (any kind of wood) on top and still leave the draft open. As the coals burn down, don't wait too long before reloading and return to the normal control. It works.

Good morning, y'all. Hope y'all have a TERRIFIC TUESDAY. It has warmed up to 30*, headed to low 50's. Got to deliver a load of wood this morning, then nap time, yep, back on 7PM-7AM shift for 3 days. Maybe we can get a few things done now.
Glad you have a short week, Kevin.
Mike, that sounds :drool: ...I haven't smoked anything lately.

Thanks for the tip, Dennis. I was working the front side this weekend, Miz Carol had stove duty. I'll pass it along.
    Be blessed, be a blessing.

Morning all. I missed a couple of morning as we have been busy. Got up really early yesterday to head down island to pick an order before the madhouse of Boxing Day sales kicked in. Got home at a decent time. Today I wake up with the cold Mom gifted me on Sunday so I am staying home for a couple of days before we head out on Thursday to our daughter's place. Lots of liquids and bed rest I think should do it.

Weather turned to rain on Saturday and yesterday was the first day without wind. I think we get rain again today.

    Everyone have a great day.

Good morning! 19F and cloudy. There are rumors of sun so we'll see. Made up 18 bundles to give myself a little cushion yesterday. We went on a mission to but Christmas lights on clearance yesterday. Snagged 93 strands at Meijer and 20 something at WalMart. We use them in lots of craft projects. Tonight I need to make some mini bundles and bag kindling and cherry smoker wood. That will get the roadside stand nearly full again. I'm repurposing a utility cart for a fuel cart. Should get it wrapped up tonight. Have a God day!

Good afternoon everybody. 18 heading to 23. Overcast and dreary. Did see the sun for a half hour yesterday.
Woodwidow, before you lay down, take a shot of whiskey. That's what my dad used to do.
Sawdust Man, what are you doing to the pig barn?
Neighbor brought over a big plate of cookies yesterday. Yummy
Have a great day everybody. Stay safe and stay warm.
